Health Connect: Transforming Community Wellness and Hygiene

Villages: Narayanaghatta, Muthanalloor, Ali Bommasandra, Gopasandra, Chintanamadivala

Equity ED has greatly improved healthcare access, nutrition, and hygiene in underserved communities by prioritizing early detection, awareness, mental health support, and sustainable systems. Through the enrollment of women in the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka (AB-ArK) scheme, Equity ED effectively removed financial barriers to healthcare. These initiatives established a strong foundation for enhanced healthcare access, preventive practices, and mental health support, addressing immediate healthcare needs while fostering long-term health improvements for the Muthanalloor Panchayat community.

The Process

Asha-Led Initiatives: Equity ED has advanced patient-centred care for non-communicable diseases through a health worker-driven approach, providing high-quality support that empowers individuals and drives meaningful health improvements in underserved communities.

Enhancing Health Systems: Equity ED strengthens health systems and communities by upgrading healthcare facilities, empowering local populations, and improving health infrastructure. These initiatives foster resilient healthcare ecosystems that focus on the needs of vulnerable groups, ensuring lasting, widespread impact and better access to quality care.

WASH Awareness Campaigns: Equity ED conducted WASH awareness camps for underprivileged children and low-income villagers, providing participants with crucial hygiene knowledge and practical skills to maintain cleanliness, enhance health, and prevent disease in their daily routines.

Cancer Screening & Awareness: Equity ED's cancer screening and awareness programs have greatly improved women's health in underserved communities by encouraging early detection through breast cancer screenings, Pap smear tests, and HPV vaccination education. These efforts have led to a significant reduction in late-stage cancer diagnoses, empowered women to take control of their health, and helped dismantle the stigma surrounding women's healthcare in rural areas.

Enrollment in Government Health Schemes: Equity ED’s efforts to enroll women in the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka (AB-ArK) Scheme have provided long-term financial security and access to essential health services, greatly reducing financial barriers and enhancing healthcare outcomes in underserved communities.

Health Camps: Equity ED’s health camps delivered crucial healthcare services to underserved communities, removing financial barriers and equipping women with knowledge on health monitoring, early symptom detection, and timely medical care. These initiatives have improved health literacy, reduced mortality rates, and significantly enhanced the overall health and well-being of the community.
